STOP THE WORLD
As the title suggests, this was very much a comment on the world; on the wars and the dishonesty, the hypocrisy of society and my incredulity at what we as a species are doing to the world.
Opener, I Rise, was a risky beginning. It was, I think, the epic that I try to put on each album, but should it have been the opener? Was it too much too early? Quite possibly, but this was not a raucous rocker of an album. It was very reflective. Mama was probably the only time I allowed myself a bit of fun. Even Hey!, an odd little number, the musical lightness covering lyrics of social betrayal, has something deep to say.
The final two tracks are an encapsulation of the album’s theme. They too are epic in their own way, and certainly uncompromising in what they have to say.
